Senior Engineer, Corrosion

Job Purpose

 

 

  • Designing, implementation and supervision on Corrosion Control Policy within the Company
  • Providing recommendation/support in the corrosion and metallurgical related issues on production facilities

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

 

  • Provides coaching and guidance to develop and enhance corrosion knowledge within the company

 

  • Leads the development and modification of internal engineering methods, tools processes and standards (RBI, Plan Corrosion Policy, Asset Integrity etc.) related to corrosion inspection/monitoring and management

 

  • Analyzes corrosion/process data and identifies opportunities to optimize operations within and across process units or equipment in order to minimize the risk of corrosion failures

 

  • Leads and/or participates in Incident Investigations as Corrosion Technical Advisor

 

  • Uses advanced problem solving tools, techniques and balances multiple considerations  (e.g. economic, operating, maintenance, technical) in solving corrosion problems that have business impact

 

  • Leads technical interactions with customers, suppliers and joint venture partners to address corrosion problems, corrosion monitoring techniques and corrosion management

 

  • Area of accountability and /or expertise could include more than one process unit

 

  • Participates in the evaluation and selection of engineering and construction partners

 

  • Works with Purchasing to develop and set up contracts and carries out bid analysis and review - for corrosion monitoring/software and analysis projects

 

  • Applies, and coaches on best practice application of project management systems, processes and techniques from corrosion perspective, and identifies /acts on opportunities to improve them

 

  • Supervision on corrosion projects of medium / large size

 

Participates in the development of unit operating strategy from corrosion risk/safety perspectives (process modifications, advanced process control and any changes that may potentially impact on corrosion within the Process Unit

 

Minimum Requirements

 

 

  • Degree in Engineering  
  • Min. 10- years of work experience (Oil&Gas, Petrochemical or Chemical Industries), including at least 5 years in field/operation environment
  • Min. 5 years field experience with corrosion monitoring/material selection/corrosion management systems
  • Sound knowledge of field corrosion monitoring techniques and methodologies, knowledge of corrosion prediction & modelling software
  • Required minimum certifications and trainings: NACE Corrosion Technologist, NACE Coating Inspection Programme Level 1 (CIP 1) and NACE Cathodic Protection Tester  certifications or equivalents from world recognized corrosion societies.
