Senior Technician, Fire & Gas Maintenance

About the Job

 

The jobholder is responsible to carry out the instrumentation and control maintenance for the Fire, Gas, Telecom and its relevant systems as part of the scheduled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and breakdown maintenance to ensure effective operation of equipment, and to identify and report problems in a timely manner with objectives as minimize failures, reduce maintenance costs, prevent production losses and improve equipment reliability & availability.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Supervise and participate in the preventive, breakdown and shutdown maintenance activities of Fire & Gas Systems to support production, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Supervise and carry out preventive maintenance, skilled maintenance, repair and testing of F&G systems and participate in the assigned plant shutdown activities for equipment availability.
  • Participate in the major overhaul of equipment, check clearances precisely and determine the usage / replacement of parts.
  • Issue comprehensive daily activity reports outlining the cause of the fault, the nature of the work and the materials, labour and time taken to complete the task.
  • Allocate work to assigned technicians, participate in the work as necessary in the diagnosis of faults of a more complex nature.
  • Inspect and test completed work to ensure equipment efficient performance in accordance with requirements.
  • Monitor and test the status of Fire & Gas Communication Networks and Modules to perform routine status checks of the Fire and Gas Servers and Workstations and Fire Station.
  • Report system hardware and software malfunctions with the use of diagnostic software and equipment in order to ensure effective system management.
  • Ensure the prompt response to Emergency callouts and rectify and analyse root causes of Fire & Gas problems to facilitate uninterrupted operations.
  • Recommend upgrades and replacement modifications for obsolete equipment to increase the plant reliability and support cost saving initiatives.
  • Maintain Fire, Gas & Telecom (FGT) systems installed across Borouge Plants within established guidelines.
  • Ensure FGT assets performance and availability by following established procedures.
  • Perform maintenance , calibration and repair works on a variety of FGT equipment installed at Borouge facilities as per procedures
  • Participate in reviewing the project specifications and provide input on plant system requirements to facilitate effective operations of the plant.
  • Monitor database records and drawings for all the activities and modifications done within the system for effective system maintenance.
  • Obtain work permits from Area Authority, review work assigned and arrange for the necessary transport, materials, tools and equipment to complete the task
  • Perform corrective actions for Troubles on Fire, Gas and Telecom system in time. Perform daily health check and initiate proper actions. Initialize time entry for direct and body shop technicians. Ensure compliance to HSE and Company procedures and campaigns.
  • Carryout on call corrective actions and fill daily on-call log. Ensure Project / Turnaround scope of work execution. Troubleshoot of failures / devices in field and workshop.
  • Perform routine maintenance for the smoke, heat, flame, the thermo-wire detectors, manual call points, horns, strobe lights and the local fire control panels of the plant and buildings and the main fire control system at fire station control room.
  • Perform routine maintenance for the Hydrocarbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen and H2S gas detectors, Horns, Strobe lights of the plant and buildings with the schedule calibration compliance with codes and standards.
  • Perform routine maintenance for the firefighting system like deluge system with the schedule functional test of the deluge valves and all pressure switches.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Diploma or equivalent technical qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in installation, repair, testing and maintenance of a wide range equipment items of production facilities in an oil/gas or petrochemical industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of HSE requirements for field maintenance jobs.
  • Hands on CMMS basic operations related to maintenance and basic computerized tools.
  • Understands the components and workings of the electric transmission and distribution network
  • Understands and uses the documentation and reporting procedures for abnormal conditions.
  • Inspects and tests equipment and circuits to identify malfunctions or defects, using wiring diagrams and testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters or ammeters
  • Consults manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering personnel in order to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and to determine optimum equipment functioning
