Supervisor, I-C Maintenance (Analyzers)

JOB PURPOSE

The job holder is responsible to supervise, lead, and administrate the maintenance activities of analyzers, ensuring their effective operation and compliance with safety standards, thereby supporting Borouge's operational efficiency and business requirements

This role includes; leading the team of analyzer technicians, overseeing day-to-day maintenance activities, ensuring adherence to safety standards, conducting regular team meetings, monitoring team performance, ensuring regular calibration and maintenance of analyzers, troubleshooting and repairing equipment, implementing preventive maintenance programs, maintaining an inventory of spare parts, collaborating with vendors, planning and scheduling maintenance activities, coordinating with other departments, maintaining compliance with industry regulations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Specific Accountabilities

Analyzers Work Supervision

  • Lead a team of analyzer technicians, assigning tasks, and providing technical support and guidance to ensure efficient operations and high team performance.
  • Oversee day-to-day maintenance activities, ensuring that Analyzers are operating effectively and that all issues are addressed promptly to maintain operational continuity.
  • Ensure the team adheres to safety standards, operational protocols, and maintenance schedules to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with Borouge's safety policies.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and solutions, fostering a collaborative environment and aligning team efforts with Borouge's goals.
  • Monitor team performance and provide feedback and development opportunities to enhance skills and productivity, contributing to Borouge's overall success.

Analyzer System Maintenance

  • Ensure the regular calibration, maintenance, and repair of process analyzers, including gas chromatographs, oxygen analyzers, pH/ORP analyzers, and mass spectrometers to maintain accuracy and reliability.
  • Monitor and maintain the performance of analyzer systems, ensuring minimal downtime and high accuracy to support Borouge's production quality.
  • Lead troubleshooting and repair efforts for malfunctioning analyzer equipment, ensuring rapid resolution of issues to minimize production disruptions.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to extend the lifespan of analyzer equipment and reduce unexpected failures.
  • Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for analyzer maintenance to ensure readiness for any maintenance activities.
  • Collaborate with vendors for technical support and procurement of parts to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance solutions.

Maintenance Planning & Coordination

  • Plan and schedule preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure analyzer reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., Production, Process Engineering, Quality Control) to minimize disruptions during maintenance activities and ensure alignment with Borouge's operational goals.
  • Maintain communication with other maintenance teams (e.g., Instrumentation, Electrical, Mechanical) to ensure alignment in maintenance efforts and efficient resource utilization.
  • Develop and maintain maintenance documentation and records to track activities and support compliance with Borouge's standards.
  • Analyse maintenance data to identify trends and areas for improvement, driving continuous enhancement of maintenance processes.
  • Ensure compliance with maintenance schedules and protocols to maintain the integrity and reliability of analyzer systems.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all analyzer systems comply with industry regulations and standards (e.g., ISO 9001, IEC 61511, ATEX) to maintain Borouge's certification and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain detailed records of analyzer maintenance activities, calibrations, and system performance in the computerized maintenance management system (e.g., SAP PM) to support audits and inspections.
  • Ensure proper documentation is available for audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance checks to demonstrate adherence to standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews of compliance documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness, supporting Borouge's commitment to quality.
  • Train team members on compliance requirements and documentation practices to ensure consistent adherence to standards.
  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies and auditors during inspections to ensure successful compliance outcomes.

 

 

Calibration & System Validation

  • Supervise the calibration of analyzers to ensure they provide accurate measurements, supporting Borouge's quality control processes.
  • Validate analyzer performance to ensure compliance with operational and regulatory standards, maintaining the integrity of Borouge's production processes.
  • Ensure all calibration and validation records are up-to-date and meet internal and external audit requirements to support compliance and quality assurance.
  • Develop and implement calibration procedures and schedules to maintain the accuracy and reliability of analyzer systems.
  • Train technicians on calibration and validation procedures to ensure consistent and accurate execution of these tasks.
  • Review and analyze calibration data to identify trends and areas for improvement, driving continuous enhancement of calibration processes.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for improving analyzer system reliability and performance to enhance Borouge's operational efficiency.
  • Work with the Process Control and Automation teams to implement improvements and upgrades, supporting Borouge's innovation and technological advancement.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of analyzer systems and maintenance processes, contributing to Borouge's competitive edge.
  • Monitor industry trends and advancements in analyzer technology to identify potential improvements and innovations for Borouge.
  • Encourage team members to suggest and implement improvement ideas, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
  • Evaluate the impact of improvement initiatives on system performance and maintenance efficiency to ensure they deliver the desired benefits.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Minimum Qualification

  • Diploma in Instrumentation & Control, Electrical, Automation, or equivalent technical qualifications.
  • Good command, communication, and technical reporting writing skills in English Language.

Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills

  • Minimum of 6 - 9 years of relevant experience in maintaining process analyzers in a petrochemical, oil & gas, or polymer production environment.
  • Prior experience in supervisory or leadership role, managing analyzer maintenance teams.
  • Hands-on experience with a wide range of analyzers, including gas chromatographs, pH analyzers, mass spectrometers, and humidity analyzers.
  • Hands on SAP basic work management operations related to maintenance.
  • Hands on the documentation and reporting procedures for abnormal conditions.
  • Working knowledge on Operation & Maintenance manuals and engineering documents/drawings. to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and to determine optimum equipment functioning.
  • Ability to lead and communicate to a team of multi-cultural, multi-national personnels.
  • Fully aware with Hazardous areas classifications and its installations and aware of HSE policies and practices. Awareness about ATEX, Hazardous Area Classifications and its installation
  • Hands on the components and workings of the electric transmission and distribution network 

Professional Certifications

Advantage to be certified in one or more of the following certificates, or relevant ones:

  • Certified Automation Professional (CAP) – ISA
  • Certified Instrumentation Specialist (CIS) – ISA
  • IEC 61511 Functional Safety Certification – TÜV or Exida
  • Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) – SMRP
