Supervisor, Mechanical Maintenance
JOB PURPOSE
The jobholder is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and leading mechanical
maintenance activities to ensure safe and timely execution, aligning with Borouge's safety and
quality standards.
This role includes leading the supervision, coordination, and administration of mechanical
maintenance technicians to ensure safe and timely execution of tasks, conducting equipment
troubleshooting, supervising installation, repair, and maintenance jobs across all plants,
monitoring work execution and quality, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards,
and collaborating with various departments to optimize resource use and maintain operational
efficiency.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Work Supervision & Coordination
• Supervise, coordinate, troubleshoot, lead, and administrate the mechanical
maintenance technicians to ensure safe and timely execution of tasks, aligning with
Borouge's safety and quality standards.
• Conduct equipment troubleshooting and decide on corrective actions to ensure proper
maintenance and minimize downtime.
• Supervise installation, repairing, and maintenance jobs across all plants to ensure
operational efficiency.
• Monitor work execution, checking quality and progress to ensure timely completion.
• Monitor and inspect maintenance contractors' work to ensure compliance with terms
and parameters.
• Ensure quality procedures, vendor instructions, and HSE requirements are followed to
maintain safety and quality standards.
Equipment & Safety Management
• Inspect completed jobs for conformity to statutory and company standards to ensure
compliance.
• Regularly inspect workshops and workplaces for good housekeeping and organization.
• Review tools distributed to the team to ensure availability and proper usage.
• Ensure team members have proper PPEs and adhere to HSE rules to maintain safety.
• Perform regular toolbox talks to communicate valuable information to the team.
• Discuss daily maintenance and start-up schedules with planners and operation teams
to optimize resource use.
Maintenance Execution
• Ensure execution of scheduled pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up
maintenance activities to maintain equipment reliability.
• Coordinate and provide technical support to shift personnel for job requirements.
• Provide day-to-day instructions for safe job execution to ensure adherence to safety
protocols.
• Supervise mechanical maintenance jobs to minimize failures and ensure equipment
reliability.
• Perform visual, close, and detailed inspections of installed mechanical equipment to
ensure proper functioning.
• Observe and approve functional tests and equipment run tests to verify operational
readiness.
HSE Compliance
• Participate in safety audits and area walk-downs to ensure compliance with safety
standards.
• Review and approve procurement of required spare parts based on equipment criticality
analyses to ensure availability.
• Receive and physically inspect delivered spare parts to verify quality.
• Complete detailed technical feedback in SAP for future failure analysis to improve
maintenance processes.
• Verify that required PM plans for equipment maintenance are executed as per
procedures to maintain equipment reliability.
• Maintain equipment files with relevant records to ensure proper documentation.
Collaboration and Communication
• Attend interface meetings with project teams and custodian departments to facilitate
issue resolution.
• Participate in the development and review of work instructions and checklists to ensure
effective maintenance execution.
• Ensure mechanical equipment and systems can be operated safely and in compliance
with regulations.
• Conduct task risk assessments to maintain safety at work locations.
• Coordinate with different departments to ensure timely completion of maintenance
jobs.
• Maintain records of work performed and provide inputs for monthly reports to ensure
proper documentation.
Resource & Performance Management
• Perform time entry approval for technicians to ensure accurate timekeeping.
• Ensure work orders are properly confirmed, and failure codes are recorded in SAP to
maintain accurate records.
• Coordinate annual leave plans to ensure even workforce distribution and minimum
availability.
• Contribute to the evaluation of contractor technicians and follow up on their
performance to ensure quality.
• Determine training needs for team members and ensure adequate on-the-job training
for skill development.
• Initiate failure reports and support engineers in root cause analysis to improve
maintenance processes.

team.
• Keep aware and knowledgeable about the respective processes’ owners, policies,
procedures, forms, and other relevant information, and communicate the same.
• Provide with the necessary feedback and observations to the direct supervisor / team
leader with regards to daily process outputs.
• Analyse and address any significant variances to support effective performance and
cost control.
HSE Excellence
• Keep abreast and knowledgeable on the updates for Health, Safety, Environment, Crisis
Management, and Risk Registers for all the performed processes, projects, and activities
within the operating zone.
• Supervise the acts by the team to ensure compliance with HSE-related procedures,
practices, and norms in the workspace.
• Adhere to the safe acts and practices in the workplace to ensure her / his own safety,
colleagues, and company assets and resources.
Processes & Systems
• Implement approved the respective policies, processes, systems, standards, and
procedures to support execution of the work programs.
• Perform the procedures / SOP in line with the respective processes and activities to
ensure timely processing.
• Provide with feedback on updating and implementation of new tools and techniques to
improve the quality and efficiency of processes.
• Make sure full compliance to Quality Management System’s controlled documents and
implemented practices in line with ISO standards to ensure consistency in the respective
processes.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Minimum Qualification
• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, or a
related field.
• Good command, communication, and technical reporting writing skills in English
Language.
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
• Minimum of 6 - 9 years of relevant experience in installation, repair, testing and
maintenance of a wide range equipment items of production facilities in an oil/gas or
petrochemical industry.
• Experience in a supervisory or team leader role is essential, with a proven track record
of leading a team in preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Experience with large-scale industrial equipment such as compressors, turbines,
pumps, heat exchangers, and rotating machinery.
• Maintenance and troubleshooting experience on Rotating & Static Equipment in Oil &
Gas.
• Hands on SAP basic work management operations related to maintenance.
• Hands on the documentation and reporting procedures for abnormal conditions.
• Working knowledge on Operation & Maintenance manuals and engineering
documents/drawings. to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems and to determine
optimum equipment functioning.
• Ability to lead and communicate to a team of multi-cultural, multi-national personnels.
Professional Certifications
Preferred to be certified in one of more of the following, or relevant certifications:
• Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) • Certified Maintenance
Manager (CMM)
• API Certification (API 510, 570, or 653) for pressure vessel, piping, or tank
maintenance.
• NDT Certifications for Non-Destructive Testing techniques (ASNT Level II) in visual
inspections, ultrasonic, and magnetic particle testing.
• HSE Certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH for safety management.
